leares, which the present species has not, and are therefore probably the true It. phi'
natus* Poiret.

Herba annua, erecta vcl diftusa, glabm vel pills bparsis patentibus hirsuta. folia
1-2-pollicaria, profandc trifida, scgmentis grosse inciso-crenatis, superiora basi cu-
neata triloba. Pedmiculi angulati, oppobitifulii, uniflori vel tenninalcs paniciilati,

nia in capitulum magnam globosum collecta, long. \ poll., ovalia, inarginata, rostro

Serla annua, erecta, glabra, ramosissima, multiflora, "Folia, radicrilia 1 2-pollicaria;
caulina inferiora, petiolata, stripartita, segmentis anguste elongato-cuneatis 1-2-pol-
licaribas apice trideiitatis, superiora sessiiia mnltifida segmentis linearibus. Flores
diam. bemipollicares. Petala, obovata, sepalis subduplo longiora. .Ackenia 5-10,
 poll, longa, oblique obovata, stylo loogo rectiusculo raucronata.

JLcdeboor distinguishes the form with tuberculated (not echinated) achenia as a
variety, but both states occasionally occur on the same individual.

1. R. wttoiB (WalL Cat. 4707)-

The specimeus in the Linnean Society's Herbarium consist of a few long-petioled
radical leaves, without stem or floWers, and are quite undeterminable.
